The Roopkund Trek situated in Uttarakhand of Garhwal region comprises the true Himalayan beauty. The name of the trek is based on a magnificent lake that remains frozen all through the year. Roopkund Lake also known as the Skeleton Lake is the end point of the trek. Settled at the high elevation and enclosed by the mountain range from all sides, this lake is blessed beauty of nature. The mysterious waters are full of remains of humans and is considered a holy lake for pilgrimage.
The Roopkund trek starts from Lohajung, at the elevation of 3200 m. The journey passes through narrow roads with hairpin bends crisscrossing from one slope of the mountain to other. Witness the amazing views of snowcapped peaks and lush valleys. Didna Village is the next destination. After a very difficult trek through a cross mixed forest, reach the simple mountain village. Camp for the night. Next morning being your trek to Ali Bugyal. Surrounded by mountains, this is the perfect place for capturing some wonderful photographs. Ghora Latoni is the next destination, an ideal flat campsite which is 3 km far from Ali Bugyal. This walk is an easy walk. From there, you will reach Bhagwabasa. This trail is mesmerizing as it crisscrosses and moves uphill towards the mountain lake. Roopkund is the last destination of the trek. It is 5 km far from Bhagwabasa, and the trail is the most difficult here.
