Located inside the mighty Jaisalmer fort, the Laxminath temple is dedicated to Goddess Laxmi (Goddess of Wealth) and her consort Lord Vishnu. One of the oldest temples in Jaisalmer, it was erected in the year 1494 during the rule of Rao Lunkaran. It is believed that the idols in the temple were installed by a learned Brahmin of the region, Sen Pal Shakdvipi. It is also said that the pillars of the temple were brought in here from Lodhruva village.
The walls and ceiling of the Laxminath temple have beautiful paintings of other gods. Though the architecture of the temple is a simple one but the silver outline in the façade and the ornamentation add charm to the temple’s beauty.
