Jal Mahal was constructed in the year 1750 by Maharaja Madho Singh. The Mahal was never built with an intention to be used as a palace. Madho Singh just wished to have it as a lodge for himself and as a place for his duck hunting parties. During the 18th century, Madho Singh’s son- Madho Singh II enhanced the beauty of the palace by adding courtyard grounds to it and making more changes in the exteriors.
Jal Mahal features a blend of traditional Rajput and Mughal architectural style. The halls and chambers of the palace have light sand colored stone walls which are at stark contrast with the deep blue of the waters of the lake, which offers a distinct look to the Mahal.
Jal Mahal is located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake in the Jaipur city.
