Popularly known as ISKCON temple, Radha Ras Bihari Temple or Shree Radha Ras Bihari Ashta Sakhi Temple spreads in an area of 4 acres of land. One of the most popular temples in Mumbai, this temple lies near the famous Juhu beach. The 100 feet high marbled dome can be seen from a distance. This temple is dedicated to Radha-Krishna and the 8 companions of Radha. Along with the main temple, the temple complex has a twin towered 7-storeyed guest house, a lecture house, a bakery, an auditorium, and a restaurant.
The temple is one of the forty ISKCON temples in India and in the year 1978, it was founded by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (founder of ISKCON). The exterior and interior of the temple are equally impressive. Wonderful statues, and several colorful, beautiful paintings adorn the temple interiors.
The continuous melodious chants of ‘Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare’ by the devotees can be heard during arti. The serene ambiance of the temple is apt for prayers as well as meditation and form a connection with the almighty. The temple is visited by tourists and devotees, every year, in huge numbers.
