Itinerary - 8 Days TUTC Glamping in Ladakh ( Fixed Departure Group Tour )

Day 1 - Leh – Chamba Camp, Thikse

Upon your arrival at Leh, our representative will welcome you and escort you to the luxurious Chamba Camp, Thiksey. While you relish the enchanting surroundings, you will be welcomed the traditional way. An attendant will guide you to the luxury tent once you are done with the check-in formalities.

No activities are planned/scheduled for the day as you are required to rest and get accustomed to the place. As the campsite is at a high-altitude, it is necessary for the guests to adapt to the rarefied oxygen levels. Later, a trip specialist at Chamba Camp will ask about any changes you would like to make to the itinerary to match your comfort level.

Guests can choose to go for a walk to Thiksey and witness the local community do their daily chores.

Day 2 - Trip to Matho Monastery and Leh City

On day 2, guests can choose to sleep till late and enjoy the breakfast afterwards. Along with that, you can spend some time in the serenity of the campsite. Admire the alfalfa pastures and the swinging Willow trees. You can also choose to take a stroll to the nearby places like the farmlands of Nyerma. Feed your mind about the essentials of medicinal herbs, religious life and the agricultural practices on your visit.

Head back to the camp to relish your lunch. Followed by a trip to Matho Monastery. The Matho Village is settled on the entry point of a deep gorge formed by Zanskar River and Indus River in the Zanskar Mountain Range of the Himalayas. The gompa was founded in the early 15th century by Lama Dunpa Dorje and belongs to the Sakya sect. One of the major highlights here is the the six hundred year old thangkas.

The next stop on the tour is Leh, where the guide will take you to the by-lanes of the city to come across the famous Leh City Palace. Here you get to witness the last big frontier town where daily essentials to woolen clothing are sourced. Guests can buy Pashmina shawls, handicraft items, Ladakh jewelry from the city.

The fun filled trip comes to an end near Chubi village from where you will head to Shanti Stupa.

Day 3 - Visit Thiksey and Hemis monasteries

Tea/coffee is served to guests to kick start their day as later a visit to the Thiksey Monastery is planned. The shrine is just a kilometer away from the camp. From the astounding structure, the beautifully carved statue of Maitreya Buddha to the overflowing positivity, everything feels blissful. While at the monastery, attend the Buddhist Morning Prayer at sunrise. Resume the guided tour of Thiksey Monastery. Make sure you visit the prismatic prayer rooms and the small shrines of the guardian deities.

Post the spiritual tour, head back to the camp for a delectable breakfast. Rest of the morning is free for leisure activities. Later in the afternoon after lunch at camp, guests are taken to the Hemis Monastery, from the Drukpa Lineage. The shrine is also known as the biggest monastic institution of Ladakh.

Day 4 - Thiksey - Nubra Valley - Diskit

On day 4, enjoy your breakfast and gear up to enjoy the scenic surroundings that follow you as you pass through the Khardung La. It is known as the highest motorable road in the world. From here, travelers are able to watch the mesmerizing setting of Nubra Valley and the bliss of lush greenery. The Willow and Poplar trees add more charm to the whole landscape. Guests will be served packed lunch in the Khardung village, followed by a drive traversing the sand dunes of Nubra. The final destination is the village of Diskit.

Within no time you will reach the Chamba Camp in Diskit, where you can relax after the tiring day. The setting of the accommodation holds the aura of safari camping, brimming with all the essentials to pamper you to the fullest. Acclimatize to the surroundings and feel refreshed in the company of the blue sky and towering mountains.

Day 5 - Yarab Tso Lake

On day 5 you will be driving to Sumur village along the banks of Nubra and Shyok rivers. Travelers can also choose to drive on the route to the Siachen Glacier. And further to the hidden and high altitude lake, Yarab Tso.

Later, know about the local life and also know about the special initiative taken by the Women's Alliance of Nubra. The women associated with this initiative take part in activities like traditional performing arts, handicrafts, to name a few. Followed by a drive through Sumur where awaits the refreshing local farms offering you a hearty lunch.

Guests will visit the Kalon family to know more about the rich history of the area around. Post that, you will be taken to enjoy a ride on the Bactrian camel which are basically double humped camel. They are mostly found in the cold desert regions of Hunder.

Day 6 - Turtuk

Day 6 is free for leisure activities. Guests can also choose to go for a tour to Turtuk. Relax in the soothing realms with the classic view of sand dunes of Diskit.

Day 7 - Diskit Gompa – Thiksey

Begin the day early and drive to Diskit Gompa. The shrine is revered as the largest and oldest Buddhist monastery cuddled atop a hill in Diskit, Nubra Valley. It is a part of the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Another interesting fact about this religious place is that it is sub-gompa of the Thiksey Monastery. The main highlight is the statue of Maitreya Buddha which sits on the opposite hill.

After spending some time, head back to the camp to have your delectable breakfast. Later get ready for your journey to Leh via Wari La, one of the highest motorable pass in Ladakh. Photograph the pashmina goats and the shepherds on the way. Also capture the yaks grazing the verdant meadows using the charm of streams.

Note: In case of any local condition Wari La is closed, the route from Khardunga La will be followed. Upon arrival, check-in at the Chamba Camp, Thiksey. Guests can enjoy rest of the evening at their own end.

It's time to hold Ladakh close for one last time as after that you will proceed for your journey ahead.
