Water Sports in Goa

Introduction

The long coastline, the emerald waters of the Arabian Sea and favorable winds, makes Goa a paradise for water sport buffs. The popularity of water sports in Goa is due to John Lucas, an Englishman and a hippy who traveled eastwards from his home in search of the oriental peace and wisdom and landed in Goa like many other birds of his feathers. The second time he returned to Goa he was not alone. His board and rig accompanied this windsurfer to Goa this time and initiated the trend of water sports to the travel itinerary of tourists in Goa. The colorful sails dotting the azure waters and surfers daring and riding the waves, is as common a sight as the swaying palms. The facilities for indulging into water sports in Goa, is various ranging from parasailing to wind surfing and these facilities are available both for the amateurs and the experts. So for all those adventure buffs addicted to adrenalin, there's no place as good as Goa to give you the desired kick.

A 30 ft long rope is tied to a speed boat on one side and a parasail on the other. The parasailor is harnessed to the parasailed, which takes off as the boat takes on speed giving one the feeling of high flying above the waters. Both the Taj and Bogmallo Resort hotels provide the necessary equipment for this enthralling sport.
