Daman and Diu

Daman:

The smallest Union Territory of India, Daman and Diu located along the coast line of Gujarat is the perfect place if you wish to get away from the crowded beaches and sounds of revelry. A place known for its Portuguese history and serene beaches, Daman and Diu is a favorite spot for people who are in love with nature and serenity.

Tourist Attractions of Daman:

  • Moti Daman:

A fort in Daman it bears the traces of Portuguese architecture. The carved archways inside the Fort, Portuguese arms, reminds us of the time when the western coast was under the Portuguese domination. The Fort was built in the year 1559 A.D.

  • Cathedral Church of Bom Jesus:

The Cathedral Church had started in 1559 but was consecrated in 1603. The huge church building is one of the most religious places and was dedicated to Bom Jesus. The gilted ornamented carved pieces near the altar surely is shows the mastery of the skillful Portuguese craftsmen.

  • Jampore Beach:

Located just a few kilometers away from Moti Daman, is the Jampore Beach. Located in seclusion, in the lap of nature, it is a beautiful beach in Daman inviting all you tourists out there.

  • Nani Daman

Nani Daman is known for its beautiful fort called the Nani Daman Fort. Known for its exquisite architecture, carved archways, Nani Daman Fort still preserves the smell of history in its decayed walls.

Diu:

Located on the coastline of Gujarat, Diu is an interesting small little place. A perfect island retreat, Diu is quite an isolated place away from the bustling crowds of the city. A favorite destination of the tourists, Diu was once a Portuguese colony. The remains of the Portuguese occupation can be still found in the city.

Diu Fort:

One of the important Portuguese forts in India, it was built after the Mughal Emperor had attacked the Sultan of Gujarat with the help of the Portuguese people. Though most of its walls, archways, halls have now decayed with the passage of time yet it still bears the traces of the strength of Portuguese defense.

Nagoa Beach:

A beautiful shoe shaped beach called the Nagoa Beach, which offers a picturesque and serene view of the Arabian Sea. Located far away from the madding crowd, tourists come here to find seclusion and peace.

Forte De Mar:

Also known as the fortress of Panikot, it is located near the beach and served as a naval base for controlling the north eastern parts of Arabian Sea.
